Hi my name is Badr Bijjou, and I am a MBA student.
I am currently conducting research about SAP communities, this is an amazing time for the Enterprise and Im having a fantastic time collecting data and interacting with people around this topic. If you are interested in what I have learned so far head over and take a look ( [www.bijjou.de|http://www.bijjou.de] ). If you want feel free to add your input as well, as I collect more and more data I plan to share my results, so others can learn from it as well first Ill have to finish my thesis though
Some of the more interesting things Ive learned so far are from a small SAP community:
SAP community members share valuable information with others, even if they know that there might be competitors. This is quite interesting. Is the SAP community an area free from thoughts about competition?
as well as this little interesting bit of information,
SAP community members have high trust in the SAP brand and fun using it, an aspect which is in my opinion in contrast to the nature and complexity.
Any thoughts on either of those?
Cheers
Badr

Good question, good question. Let me know your results once they're available.
I'm a member since 2004 but have only recently started answering questions. Not sure about the impetus. I extracted some good knowledge from SDN, so maybe it was time to give something back.
Well, it's actually about becoming a points zillionaire and having a good laugh sometimes!
Question to Rob, you're almost at 10K, what motivates you to help people out for many years now?
Greetings
Thomas

@Thomas - actually, I'm over 10K if you take into account Blogs, etc.
Good question - I enjoy a challenge, but I must admit, I get really tired of answering the same questions over and over again, so I may give it up soon.
On the other hand, if there were a forum where people presented unique problems, that would be really interesting, but I'm not holding my breath.

That would be sad but understandable.

The ongoing discussion about all the "noise". Most of the time, I am not looking at subjects containing "urgent", that are all in capital letters, or completely vague or repetitive. This gets rid of a lot right away. On the other hand, I have a growing collection of thread watches with the really interesting stuff (by my standards).
Cheers
