Several terms are missing from Q&A - this is a known bug that should be fixed on Thursday (21st).

Hi Brian,

Thank you for the information.

Now I have checked it again, but I am wondering:

  • why the "Logging" categories are still there
  • why is the "Logging" above of the normal WebDynpro
  • why the main category (for normal WebDynpro) is called "Software Product Function" and not "Software Product"

Can you please check it?

Thanks,

Gabor

We introduced a class of metadata called "Software Product Function" to expand on the granularity of the metadata schema, because the product and topic classes are not specific enough to allow users talk about the things they want to talk about. The terms in the Software Product Function class allow users to label content with such terms as Business Process Management, Web Dynpro Java, and Materials Management, for example, because those are topics that users care about. They are more specific than a product. Software Product is class of its own, which is based on a price list. Products are things SAP sells. But "Software Product Function" terms are things that people "do."

Anyways, I have no idea what "Logging of Web Dynpro for ABAP" is, or why it's in the Software Product class. But it shows up by virtue of being a salable product. Maybe knows what it is.

Correction: Software Product is based on software that we deliver (and support). Licenses are what we sell.

Hi Brian,

Thank you for looking into this!

Regarding the "Logging of WD ABAP": I try to find out and get back to you.

As for the "UI - Web Dynpro ABAP and Floorplan Manager" variant:  I am also wondering whether the "and Floorplan Manager" is really required. Unfortunately I am not an WD ABAP expert.

Let me add also

Thanks again!

Ervin

Hi Brian, Ervin,

Thanks for the clarification.

Regarding Floorplan Manager, on SCN we currenly have a sub-topic below WD ABAP.

http://scn.sap.com/community/web-dynpro-abap

http://scn.sap.com/community/web-dynpro-abap/floorplan-manager

So this tag seems to be good for me.

Or should we have one for WD ABAP and one for FPM separately?

Thanks,

Gabor

Hi,

cool, then we only need to figure out the "Logging of WD ABAP".

Can you ask around at your development support colleagues ?

Cheers,

Ervin

Hi,

I got the answer back from WD ABAP development / Product Owner.

They do not know what is exactly the Logging of WebDynpro ABAP.

Maybe it can be the Read Access Logging (RAL):

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw75/helpdata/en/0b/a767b745ff461d9d0dbfcdfa0333e2/content.htm?current_t...

But this is not an individual product, it is a part of WebDynpro.

They also asked where this Logging of WebDynpro ABAP originally came from. Can you please let me know?

As I mentioned, if this tag would mean RAL, it is not necessary, as it is not an individual product, and even if somebody wants to open a discussion about it, it belongs to the normal WD ABAP tag.

So you can just easily remove it.

Thanks,

Gabor

Hi,

According to PAM, there is an Product Add-on which is only restricted available LOGGING OF WEB DYNPRO ABAP 2.0.

Currently the "Software Product" contains server products, Add-Ons, Front Ends like Mobile Apps, SAP programs and databases in the one list.

With regard to tags: @Gabor Cseh: would it be helpful to split those two tags into WD ABAP and FPM from your perspective?

Best Regards,

Sigrid

Hi Sigrid,

I think it would be better if we would have WD ABAP and FPM separately, because in the past there were 2 topics in SCN and customers used to it.

For me/us it is also better to moderate these topics if they have 2 tags.

Thanks,

Gabor
