Link BIF to SCN profile?

It would be really nice to be able to easily find somebody's BIF blog, assuming they've written one. As the list of BIFs gets longer, it gets harder to search. What if there was a standard place to put a link to your blog? We could all agree to put the link in, say, the "Additional info" field that's already there, or if it was considered important enough then maybe there could be a new field dedicated to it.

I have added the url to my personal URL and I have made it as visible to everyone....

The short bio field has the same problem I mentioned above with the additional bio field - namely that it isn't presented as a clickable link but simply plain text. The personal URL field is rendered as a clickable link.

We've seriously considered it, Steve, it's just that our user profile fields are not native Jive and we can't track profile completion at the moment. A bit sad, but we have other priorities on our plates so we're leaving it as is for now.

I always find it amusing that the SCN team work under the same sort of constraints such as time, budget, priorities, etc. like the rest of us in the IT world.  You kind of assume whatever they want for SCN they'd just get so the reality always tickles me.

That's not a bad idea. I currently use that field for my personal blog. I don't know if anybody has ever followed the link!

I've tried putting the BIF URL in the "Additional Info" section and it doesn't appear as a live link, meaning you'd have to copy and paste it to follow it. Your "Personal URL" suggestion works better - I might switch it...

The only downside is that the looong url is shown instead of a nice text. It would be great, if we could enter that url in a field and it would appear here:

There is the link to the personal SCN blog (if you have one) and since the BIF is kind of standardized this would be a great place for the link to it, too. Here the name of the blog could be shown or the same text for everyone like "BIF blog".

Just some brainstorming. As I like to say: maybe put in on Idea Place?

I did originally think of Idea Place (you're influence, I'm sure ), but if there's an existing place we can all use we don't need a new idea, so thought I'd start here instead.
