Request clarification before answering.
Hi, Sikindar,
I had completedly agreed with you before the quit of Brazil and Argentania. But how pity it is . I can not believe Brazil is not a team in quarter finalist.
It seems that the this World Cup is shadow of European Cup. Now I turn to Germany team, the team is so younger and energy.
Well, the game of Germany Vs Spanish is coming after five minutes. CHEER UP FOR GERMANY!!

For netherlands it is very easy to win against Brazil and for Germany against Argentania

Come on Argentina!!
This world cup is ours. So far Argentina has shown the best soccer, I have no doubts that Maradona will lead Argentina to a new victory.
How I wish we could play against England...

Hi,
I think England will beat Germany on penalties, then go on to beat Argentina by a dodgy handball decision and an individual solo goal.
Then I woke up and it was all a dream.....
And I wouldn't be betting on Spain so soon, their group is pretty tight and we've seen a few big European names taking the plane home sooner than expected.
Regards,
Nick

Thanks for pointing this out, I wasn't even aware that this is an invention of German media and used otherwise in native English speaking countries...just learned my bit from Wikipedia.
Cheers
Thomas
It is a pity you say that because sport is very healthy, also for international relations. It gives the peanut gallery a reality check..
Unfortunately we won't see South Korea vs. North Korea in the finals this year either. I think it would do them some good.
Germany vs. Argentina will certainly be a good game to watch next Saturday!
Be a sport,
Julius
As being/considering myself not (yet) being contagioned I would paraphrase
populum Romanum duabus praecipue rebus, annona et spectaculis, teneri
(According to wikipedia: The phrase is used to describe the creation of public approval, not through exemplary or excellent public service or public policy, but through the mere satisfaction of the immediate, shallow requirements of a populace.)

I Still think that Argentina, Germany, Spain and Brazil could be the finalists.
Germany is really strong and fast that is key in today's Football, Argentina is playing really good and have excellent players but they will have to play in quarter's game, Spain y Brazil are strong enough to stay in the game, another good team could be Portugal too.
To me the champions will be very hard to predict because there is not a clear team that is far supperior to the others and seems that this will be the Football World Cup of the mistakes, Legal Goals that are not legal, hands touching the ball being legal, legal goals that got disqualified, red cards to players that did not touch the opponent and so on.
For sure it will be a good game of good sports.
If it would be that only
I consider it more like a machine-to-print-money, it's too commercial and IMHO overestimated. It's a game only, nothing more, nothing will change if either the one or the other will win aside from the fact that it keeps people busy thinking of that instead of other (much more important) things.
I'm just happy when one can switch on TV in two weeks without having the need to listen to stammering players or Günther-Netzer-post-game-analyzes what would have happened if this or that would have happened
Just my EUR 0.02, no offense against those who're hanging on the edge with their team/country
.
Markus
For all of us with outstanding OSS messages you must hope Germany gets knocked out early so they get back to work at SAP!!!
Here down under all the games are between 12pm-6am so lack of sleep is going to be a problem.
I like Spain and Holland to win it, and would love Aussies to at least get to the second round but massive task.
