Talking about the Yorkshire accent reminds of that classic book All creatures great and small One of the funniest and most touching books I have ever read.
One of my favourite quotes in the book came from one of the farmers - "Could you tell him she's goin only on three cylinders?" (For people who haven't read the book, he was talking about one of cows who was sick. The reference to cylinders was to the cow's udder). Needless to say, the author at that point had no idea what the farmer was talking about either

>>Sounds a lot like P.G.Wodehouse
Nope, Wodehouse is a different kind of humour. Don't much like his books. My parents are huge fans of his by the way, so I came across him very early as far as reading went...
Bryson is more my kind of author as far as funnies go. Also like Tom Sharpe (he is more similar to Wodehouse than Herriot )

Dangerous Homophone! That reminds me of an old joke.. A lady was singing "There was a cold day" in the shower & this Hindi speaking man barges in as he (mis)heard it as " Darwaje Khol De" (open the doors)..

I agree there. My wife's mother tongue is Vietnamese - that's all she spoke up to age 12. However, the language she is fluent in is English (like me) - in fact, she even teaches English!
- and that's English English.
> If its not then I need to report an error with google
You (and google) are correct.
I did not know that Urdu uses a variant of the Arabic alphabet, so to me it looked like arabic with words which don't make any sense.
Like reading "asdf" "erdf" or "plzzzz" and saying that it is English
Learnt something new. Thanks!
AGRAPATHAMMUNA VIBRAMA VILASITHA SUBRA KOUMUDHEE DEEPIKAAA LALITHATHAMBHO NIDHI JALITHA SOUNDHARYA MUGDHA SREE NAYAKA.... hmmm.. How is it? Its SANSKREET Language...
Know as Gods language in India, Many Historical writes related to gods like RAMAYANAM, MAHA BARATHAM written in this Language... Later they translated into Hindi.. and some other languages. Now in india there are more than 100 languages .... As of my knowledge.. May be more but not less.
And all these languages like Hindi, Marati, Telugu, Tamil, Gujrathi, Malayalam, Kannada ... came from this SANSKREET Language only. So its great language.. and Now any where ... we can't learn this Language with its Literature.. Because now it has no Literature at all. Thanks, Naveen Inuganti.
And all these languages like Hindi, Marati, Telugu, Tamil, Gujrathi, Malayalam, Kannada ... came from this SANSKREET Language only.
The Malayalam script began to develop from a script known as vattezhuthu (round writing). It owes its origin to Tamil & Sanskrit and later on changes occured due to influence of Portuguese & English.
Hi.,
My aim is to introduce Indian Classical Language, But not to comment any language. In fact I mentioned my Mother tongue Telugu in that list.
Ya, Kannada is influenced by Sanskrit in terms of vocabulary, grammar and literary styles. Ofcourse before that the Intial Development is similer to "Dravidan Languages" only.
Anyway, It is good discuss about Indian Classical Language Sanskrit as an Indian. That too just before SIX Days of INDIAN REPUBLIC DAY, January 26th.
Thanks,
Naveen Inuganti.
Classical Languages are never derived from any languages.
And as you said "Kannada is influenced by Sanskrit in terms of vocabulary, grammar and literary styles"
yes its the latter part(development) and not origin.
Sanskrit is not the only classical language. But it is the oldest.
Tamil and Kannada are both declared as classical languages.
