Issue with search functionality of SDN

Hey Guys

From past few weeks i m noticing some issues with search functionality in XI forum(i didn't check other forums).if i search some string without using any special symbol like "" ^ etc i get results only from XI forum but when i include special symbols then i start getting results from all the other forums as well(like BI,ABAP,CRM etc).

Is this a bug or regular behavior?

I don't think i should get results from other forums if i m searching only in XI.

Thanx

Aamir

Since when can you sort the search results? Is this a feature for paying SDN members?

I don't know since when you can sort but I if you search inside a forum you will see a dropdown box on the result page. I can chose between 'Sort by relevance' and 'Sort by date'. I don't think that is something special for moderators.

Hi Aamir,

I have tried to reproduce the error, but was not able to. Could you please give me some examples, e.g. the search strings with special characters?

Thanks & regards,

Michael

Hey Michael

When i search in XI forum with the string "Export Objects"(without double quotes) and in date range All,the first page gives results only from XI forum(which is correct)but the second page starts giving results from ABAP,Security etc.

Similarly if i search with "Export Objects^9"(without double quotes,i m using ^9 to exert a string)and date range All,i start getting results from other forums like security,CRM,BW etc from page 2.

Thanx

Aamir

Hi Aamir,

ah, it's a paging problem then. I could reproduce this immediately and will look into it.

Thanks & regards,

Michael

Hi.

BTW: If I sort search results by date I get the results sorted by the day they were posted and then for each day by relevance. I find that quite unusual . In my personal opinion a order of entries by the point of time they were created would be more useful.
