Is there still an SAP-hosted server where authorized SCNers can develop?

Was there ever an SAP-hosted server where authorized developers can work?

If so, is it still available?

If so, can someone provide a link to where you go to request authorization? Also, does anyone know if it allows custom table definition in Dictionary, and if so, what the size allowances are?

Thanks to anyone for any info ...

Thanks J and O for clarifying. Here's where I think I formed my mis-impression.

When I was doing an SAP-created PI 7.1 tutorial/example several months ago, I'm pretty sure that the tutorial suggested logging into an SAP-sponsored server which, at least to me, seemed to support some kind of PI development or config.

Do you know the server I'm talking about here, and what SAP intended its exact purpose to be?

Maybe it was just a passive "target" programmed to respond correctly to PI apps that were correctly constructed according to the tutorial ...

I would not rely on any such server to be there all the time, nor that your code is reliably hosted there when it goes down.

I invested in the partner option and backup objects via physical transport files - like you would probably want to do as well in a hosted environment where you have development objects too complex to copy&paste as text.

Fluffy passwords are another option, but not reliable.

I am not aware that SAP hosts any such service with public logon credentials with developer type access... however you might be able to "hack" some ITS's where they might never notice and backup your work in realtime for you...

Is it possible you were reading one of the exercises in certification documents/ SAP training course documents?

I have seen such phrases in those documents. And the reason being the material is provided as part of hands on session where the trainee is given access to SAP server.

Are you implying that djh does not attend training because he knows everything, without even having a system?

This could explain some of his questions where SAP does not match his imagination and it's expectations...

That would make very good sense, Jai, except that there were instructions for obtaining a login that actually worked.

I mean, I think I remember that I was issued a log-in.

But maybe you're right ...

I don´t think we will see such server(s) available in the near future (this millenium:)).

On the other hand, why would SAP do it? There are partners, there are trial stacks etc.

Hi David,

To my knowledge, no - there isn't.

I got together with some other folks and took the plunge into becoming a SAP Partner and if inclined to admin own servers then one can play around with all the software there.

There are also some hosting options which I have seen in the internet and also blogs on SDN from SAP about it.

SAP has also made it much more difficult to have a C-account and kicked a lot of "surfers" out.

Cheers,

Julius
