Is it wrong to ask someone to search before posting?

Please see this thread [Project system material |/thread/1989630 [original link is broken]; I had asked the user to search in internet and forum and all I get is an insulting reply

please shut and do your own things

Is it really an offense to tell someone to search the forum or in google ?

Useful is to ask them what they have found and tried so far.

This makes it clear that there is an answer and you are not going to search for them...

Try to learn and practice how to behave in a public and professional forum.

--> Correct! u2663

Julius, did you assign correct-points to him? Or was it Senthil Kumar seized with remorse? 😆 Made my Day either way.

This behaviour is almost as hilarious as some person I remember complaining about "Stupid Rob, always closing my threads!!" or the like..

BTT: Personally, I don't think it to be offensive asking someone to do better research. It rather is a well meant broad hint.. Also don't let such comments get to you, try to see the comedy in it

You might want to try some sublety next time, as in:

I have to admit - that was one of my favourites. I just wish another moderator hadn't changed the title. But I guess it was for the best

Anyway, I think the moderators do, in general, appreciate it when non-moderators pitch in and try to keep the forums working well. It shows the other members that we all working towards the same goal.

That is my favorite! Hardly ever fails, almost never results in abusive behaviour.
