Got this email from SCN today and am guessing I might be not the only one "lost in translation":
Dear ,
In our ongoing efforts to provide our valued members with the best user experience, we are updating our
SAP Community Network member records.
Please update two fields and accept our Privacy and Web Tracking Policy by December 31st so that we may continue to provide you with the most relevant content for your business needs.
It's simple, just click on Login at the top of any page in the SAP Community Network.
If you have already updated your profile we thank you for your time.
The links did not work, but no big deal - we all know where SCN is. However, in the profile I don't see any "two fields" or a place to accept any policies. Could SCN be more clear in their communication?
By the way, giving the December 31st deadline during the holiday season when many people are taking time off - nice touch. What will happen if this deadline is missed?
Hoping someone can clarify this request. Thank you.

Hi Jelena,
I think this is merely about some policy changes SCN made about... let's say 2 or 3 montsh ago. I remember I was not able to log in anymore until I accepted some new ToS. Methinks SCN didn't distinguish between people who already did this months ago and people who didn't while sending this mail, because I got this mail too.
Aside from this, concerning the fact this mail has some potent 'spectrum', since probably everybody who has an S-Number received it, the phrasing and attention to detail ("hi plz update two fields, mhkay?") are a bit spooky.
Cheers, Lukas

Ah, now I vaguely remember something like this popping up some time ago. Thanks for clarifying, Jason.

Exactly. Could've at least said 'phone' and 'country' instead of 'two fields'. There is also nothing people like more than being adressed as 'Dear <empty space>'. Makes you feel real' special. Oh well...
I got the same poorly worded "please up date two fields and accept our Privacy and Web Tracking Policy" e-mail too. At least mine addressed me by name. As we all know it didn't say which two fields should be updated (or that we just need to make two no-effect changes) or where/how one would find the policies to be accepted, if my access gets cut off, it gets cut off. I do not see nor remember the pop-up screen mentioned above.
It does seem reasonable that a company that deals with customer relationship software would not spam the entire S-user population to get to just those that have yet to update "two fields" and accept some policy. Ah, but this the same company that has reps call and not know what SAP software we're running.
Worst case plan: When I can't log on in 2013, I'll click the "Contact SAP online" link in the upper right corner of the e-mail and let them work the issue.
Let's hope it's a happy start to the new year.

Hi Jelena,
I have got the same question as I have also received the same mail by SAP SCN.
What I have done is to update any 2 of the fields in my profiles.
The changes have been saved by SAP.
I hope it will work.
Hi Jason,
I login to SCN and click some topics to see in SCN, but I have not got a Popup about to update the "privacy and Web Tracking Policy".
Hope to see some news later cause I really need to use SCN for the next year

Hello,
After you login to any SCN page, you will be presented with a popup asking you to confirm the following:
You probably have done this already very recently and this is why the popup does not appear for you or other regular users. Here's a screenshot of what's that popup containing the information requests:
