Idea Place Spam Attack

Hello All,

This past weekend Idea Place was attacked by a spambot that was creating fake accounts then posting ideas and comments on those ideas.

We removed all the spam from the sessions; however, we have had to temporarily stop all new accounts from being created to stop the spam.

This means that new users who has never accessed Idea Place before will not be able to create an account, create ideas, vote or comment.

Existing users who have accessed Idea Place are not affected (i.e. they can still do everything they could do before).

We are working to figure out the best solution going forward and will notify you when we are allowing new accounts to be created again.

Unfortunately with all public communities and forums, spam is an ongoing battle. If you do see anything amiss, please do send us the details.

An update on SPAM situation: registration has been re-opened so that new users can again create accounts and interact on the site.

Measures were put in to prevent spam from being submitted in the sessions, but until February, when a more sophisticated spam moderation will be built into the platform, spam may slip through.

We will be monitoring it closely but If you see any spam on our session, please let us know.

This means that if you have even used Idea Place before, there is no affect on you.

If you haven't, then you won't be able to create an account for now.

I will update once this is fixed.
