Sadly, they can't. Profile linking, which Anita refers to, is the closest you can get, but that's not a merge - it's just a link between the two profiles of yours.
Why is this still not adressed by SAP? I mean going forward with open source community and trying to encourage people to get reputation, points and history and all.
