How to test that SAP can use your R3 connection?

Hi forum,

I have configured the R/3 support service connection, with saprouters, an R3 user and service connector etc.

I started the service connection and it started fine with message "The service connection has been opened sucessfully" and the SAProuter status shows "Connected".

My question, is there a way to get SAP to test this connection for me so that I know that I'm ready for when we have an emergency? Or, can I trust that given the connection opened successfully, then it will work fine when the time comes?

Kind regards,

Dave

Hi,

If as you said you already connected one of your systems using SAP Connect and it remains green (connected) for at least 15 or 20 minutes, then everything is OK so don´t worry unless you change anything in you network.

Hi,

In fact the service connection did stay connected for the allocated time (8 hours), however, I have sinse discovered it was in fact still not working.

I called SAP Global Support and they were very happy to test the R3 connection there and then for me but in fact it failed because during setup we had omitted one of the external firewall rules between SAP and our DMZ.

They suggested I create a message in type XX-SER-NET for help. They also responded very quickly with a test and then helped me identify my problem and then tested again, this time all was good.

So answer to the question is, yes, call sap or create the message in XX-SER-NET if you would like your R3 connection tested ready for a real production down.

Kind regards,

Dave
