How to change posting period from Year to Month?

Hello to everyone

It's my first time to use SAP.

I have mistakenly selected 'Year' as Sub-Periods for new posting period 2022 in the system. How can I change this from Year to months?

What's the effect or difference of having the Year or monthly as sub-periods? Thanks so much

What transaction or application are you using? Are you using OB52 transaction or?
