Hi there

I can't find any way to delete my profile on SDN. Please could someone explain where this functionality can be found?

Thanks

Stuart

Yes, I have plenty of last wishes - but think I'll keep those to myself

I hope your decision has got nothing to do with the whole SCN revamp

Not directly, no. I wouldn't stop using SCN simply because I don't like the look of it - that wouldn't be very constructive.

I'm happy to explain my reasons, but will avoid doing so on a public forum. From my experience, discussions of that nature quickly degenerate into mud-slinging, which is not something I want.

So I'm happier keeping my opinions to myself

IMO mud-slinging is pretty much accepted here, as long as it is kept civil. If you are unhappy with a few things you are open to share it here or in CC.

Such brain-storming usually works towards the betterment of SCN vis-a-vis SAP in general. There have been many such threads here, that have touched upon sensitive/explosive issues and still manage to scrape through Rule violations.

Hi,

but may be you should tell them to sdn@sap.com. As it is always good to know why somebody is not satisfied. This might help to improve things.

The quickest way, which will generate the least number of questions about why ... is to create yet another account and pop some interview questions under PK's nose in the ABAP General forum... then answer them with this account and give yourself 10 points... doing that 2 or 3 times should be more than sufficient....

(Just joking)

Another option is to simply "deactivate" your own account by changing the mail ID to point into nirvana and changing the display name to "Deactivated User ID".

If you really want to be toasted, then send a mail to sdn @ sap . com

Cheers,

Unfortunately, this is somewhat of a complex process. The easiest situation is if you have only one useird you ever created, and never subscribed to a newsletter, or have successfully unsubscribed to all newsletters. In this sole instance, we can delete the userid safely.

It tends to take a month to verify that you are fully unsubscribed as the BPX newsletter only comes out once per month. If we simply delete an account, the process picking up changes to subscription status would fail to pick up the 'unsubscription' in which case you condemn yourself to forever receive newsletters

The best way to 'deactivate' an account is to simply update the profile so as to unsubscribe to any newsletters, and to update any forum watches by deleting them. The account still exists, but at that point it makes no difference since it won't do anything to annoy you.

It sounds like the best idea is for me to simply stop using the site.

I do feel that the ability to remove your own profile should be given to the user. Most other site memberships allow the user to completely remove their profile if they wish. In the [SDN Privacy Policy|http://www.sap.com/company/legal/privacy.asp] it states:

On our Web sites, we only store personal information relating to you with your permission

This statement therefore implies that if I revoke my permission for SAP to store my information, then they are obliged to remove it. But I'm not a legal expert, so I could be wrong in this assumption.

For now I will simply stop contributing to the site, which I'm sure will be a lot easier than trying to remove my profile.

Thanks very much for your help! Much appreciated!
