How can I change the email address in my P account?

I know this is an old post but this is the only one I found which is still open to replies. (I came here from this locked post: How can I change the email address assigned to my account? )

My solution was to go to the SAP Universal ID account management and not the other account management places (listed below). You obviously need first to migrate your account to this Universal ID thing.

There, the email address field allows for adding a new email address.

However, this field's validation check is apparently buggy. I have my own custom domain and wanted to use "sap@mycustomdomain.com" but it didn't let me enter it because "Our policy does not allow the use of a shared email address" or some nonsense, so I'm now contacting support. [facepalm]

Please note: there are several places in SAP online "world" for managing your account. I still don't understand why or what each place means, and the whole thing is so messy and unprofessional in my opinion. Those places are:

  • accounts.sap.com (protected profile management) - to which I arrived from support.sap.com, by clicking the top-right profile picture and then "Edit my profile". Here, you can change your name and phone number, but not your email address.
  • people.sap.com - to which I arrived from community.sap.com, by clicking the top-right profile picture and then "My Account". Here, you click "Account and settings" and then "personal info" and you can change your name and phone number (which is not synced with your phone number in accounts.sap.com for some reason), but still, the email address is locked and read-only.
  • accounts.sap.com (Universal ID) - to which I don't even remember where I got from, but it worked (except for the stupid validation check I mentioned above).

Frankly, the amount of problems and rubbish behavior of these SAP sites is embarrassing. Hopefully the SAP Universal ID would finally unify the whole account management experience and also solve the problem of changing the email address. I really hope the developers of SAP community take this site to the next level, because right now it is seriously behind times.
