Goo GL considered unsafe - beta announcement

In the link to the beta mission, there is a link with the URL "goo.gl/...". (I saved it offline)

My corporate network blocks such URL "shorteners" for fairly obvious reasons.

I much prefer not to deal with a form like this unless it is absolutely necessary.  That's all I will say in print.

Hi Jim, Thanks for sharing your feedback and experience. We use the link shortener to get around the character count limit in our mission platform. I'll check if we can find another way that wouldn't have the same result for members.

I investigated the internal tool, but unless there is an update I am unaware of, according to 's post on Jam,

the shortened link can only be used within SAP; and we can't share the link with external audience. 

Would be happy to hear if this has changed.

In the mean time, I'm working with IT to understand options and best approach. Also worth noting, the character count limit will not be an issue on the new gamification platform, so there will not be the same need to shorten.

That's not _quite_ what I said - I said we _should_ use our own shortener.

These links are supposed to be accessible after many years, so how can we hand them out to _any_ third party to have them mangled and the original destroyed...?
