Hi,
There is no place in SDN specific for Career specific discussion. As a Results SAP consultants tend to diverge to other portals for advice and suggestions.
Donu2019t you think we need such a forum where we can have all discussion on career related concerns, issues and aspirations.
Its best to have such sensitive and most concerned issues to be answered by SAP Councilorsu2019 one on one.
P.S: Mod I have asked the same Ques at Coffee conner. I am not sure which will be a better place to ask so raise at both . But both have different audience so I think both forums will have different views.
Request clarification before answering.
Its was a general discussion ... and now we have a career center on SDN..
So that answers my question

I have just closed the thread that was open. And had to give closing comments.
but I still Feel the need for a Career Forum . Cause Career Center dose not have forums.
@Andrew: i read your private message that you send me.
And I thought a bit harsh.
But anyways all I wonder is how could you send me a message when you are not marked as a moderator in SCN.
@Julius
Can you see the sparks?
@Hussain
What else you need in that new Career Forum?
@Andrew: i read your private message that you send me.
And I thought a bit harsh.
was my 'private message' through mail or phone? have to check my phone/mail box and see whether some event has triggered automatically to send messages to people who i see in the forum for the first time.
But anyways all I wonder is how could you send me a message when you are not marked as a moderator in SCN.
i too wonder how i got time to message you
~Andrew
The comment field is not mandatory, but we should all thank our stars that you didn't post "asdf" or "solved by mysel" as some others feel obliged to do to hundreds of threads all in one go...
The "message" is a mail which contaibs the content of answers to your thread. In this case, Andrew did not see that your original question is older than the career center so added some venom to his "use the search" amswer. I also read tge message. He then edited it when he realized the mistake.

There is a "career forum" as well (second last door in the community forum category, next to the puzzle machine)

Cheers,
Julius
@Andrew: Lesson Learnt ---> How to send private message to any member in the forum; despite the fact we do not have such functionality in SDN.... I think you too have learn that as well
@Julies: Why is career forum still required?
Cause I still cant find a place in [Caeer Center|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/careers] where I can post a query and Mentor and other members can reply to that; just like we are doing here (only diff is that what we are doing here is not helping out career much )
Will that not be simple and easy ?
Now its SCN choice to put it under FORUM section or CAREER CENTER section
@Hussain

> Now its SCN choice to put it under FORUM section or CAREER CENTER section
Forum Section? ????????
Career Center Section? ????????
Where is it now?
to my eyes it looks like it is rightly placed beneath [SAP Community Network Forums|http://forums.sdn.sap.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1] and as Julius pointed out it is under 'Puzzle Forum'
or my eyes needs some treatment

Good to see this initiative from SCN
Hi,
and as long as you are not asking us what you should do next (i. e. which area of sap to move to) your are very welcome to ask and discuss.

Thanks for your willingness to help....
I would like to shot lots of Ques provided mentors are not bugged by stupidity of Questions. Because most of them would have obvious answers. Though someone like me who started career couple of years back it is less then obvious and I may not even have vague idea.
They are as follows:
What is the scope of a Technical Consultant to get into Business side of SAP services?
Such as Marketing, Product Management, Services Management, Solution Architect... etc.
It may sound as a general management Quest. But in SAP it is different cause SAP has lots of Technical Products. So to do its business you need to know the technology.
So please let us know expected profile of a consultant holding the above position along with their exposure needed in technical side of the SAP.
> See no body volunteering to answer the question now.
Almost broke the sules here, but since there's no question mark I suppose it's within limits. Forum rules are quite clear on how posters are not entitled to answers. As you rightly pointed out, its voluntairy.
> Thats why a dedicated forum would be a lot more benifitail.
Please explain that a bit further, it does not make sense to me how a separate forum would help to get a question answered which is not answered here?
> It not that hard to understand.
It's lines like the above that will stop people answering you questions
Hi,
in my last answer I mentioned that we will be happy to discuss things as long as you don't want us to suggest what you should do for your own personal career, as this is something that you by yourself have to decide. But guess what: Your question was likely exactly one of those dozens of questions of people who want us to give them a direction which way to go. It was just asked in a slightly different way. And I think that is why you didn't get an answer.

>Please explain that a bit further, it does not make sense to me how a separate forum would help to >get a question answered which is not answered here?
This is how it goes. Being a dedicated forum for career, people will look towards it for clarification of droughts in career.
As such people them selves are going to come together, and going thought the same phase, they too will willingly help others with what ever research they have done or knowledge they have.
Also it will attract many other mentors and experts who are expert in this career counseling .
Well about My Questions I don't think its personal Its very much general cause they are the first thoughts that will come to mind of a technical Consultant in SAP if he is looking to broaden his career prospects.
If aspiration of all such technical consultants is too specific. Then let it be answered by a specific answer. I assure you there are lot new comers in SAP who don't know how to go about it and arenot willing to wait. Cause now we don't believe in wait and watch, not at least in career. We need to crate opportunities and not wait for it.
... that still doesnt answer why you need a seperate forum for that. Why not here? People do ask these career-counselling-type-questions in the buckets and those who are interested in answering, do tend to answer, the others just ignore it. You will observe the same phenomenon if a new forum is created for the purpose.
There have been many discussions on similar issues (you can do a search on it) and till date there has been no official word on it from any of the SAP employees, which could either mean they are right now non-commital or something is cooking.
But either way, such discussions have been widely broadcasted here and in CC, meaning SAP is aware of it. So for the time being its just better to wait-and-watch.

This is the correct forum. As you divined - the coffee corner is likely to attract more frivolous answers...
