Where can I define my preferred tags? At the moment I do no see any place in my profile settings to define such a list.
Will there be something like a Tag cloud at the entry screen of "Questions & Answers"?

Hi Christoph,
What do you mean by defining your preferred tags? You can follow tags from tag pages.
Basically anywhere you see content tagged with a tag you would like to get updates about, if you click on the tag name, you get to a tag page. There you have the follow button.
Currently there is no tag cloud planned. If there was any, what would you base the tags shown in the cloud on?
Best,
Gabi

Hi,
I was thinking of a way to create an overview for me as moderator on all the existing questions. I think it would be really useful for moderators and of course users if they can see the tags they are following directly when they enter the "Questions & Answers" area. Because now I only see the search field and then the questions. But it might be that the first page does not have any question for my moderated area.
So it would be useful if I simply see my followed tags in a sidepanel and I can "filter" the questions by a simple click on the tag.
On the other hand a tag cloud on all available tags will also help "first-time" users to find the correct primary tag easier and also to navigate faster to the questions the user is interested in. At the moment the user can only start searching and maybe get a list of questions from several different areas.
The problem with a tag cloud is that the name of the tags are simply too long to have them in the side bar.
For example: "SAP Data Quality Management, version for Oracle's Siebel CRM"
This is only one tag and it would need to be wrapped at least once in the sidebar.
If you are following your tags that you moderate, you get all the things that happened in your activity stream, where you would be able to keep track. You can directly navigate from the activity stream to tag pages via clicking on the tag name, so you could get all the blog posts and questions for that specific tag.
Both SAP Blogs and SAP Answers have so called tag roll pages, so if you click on a tag name you get either all blog posts or all questions that were tagged with that specific tag.
As for the moderation aspect, you can find all the alerted and premoderation needing content under My Moderation Tasks in the Moderation Service for all of your assigned tags.
Hi,
I continue to test now and focussed on the activity stream. When I go to "Followed activities" I get a list of the latest questions and here I have no option to directly filter on my favorite tags "e.g. SAP Easy Document Management" I am currently following.
I only see the following information
Here on the left side I think a list of my followed tags should be possible. Otherwise the tags could also be listed up at the top of the page. Another idea would be to have a link or tab that shows your favorite tags or areas like now in SCN where it is called "Places" in your profile:
The real bad thing from my point of view is that in the current SCN discussions there is also a tag cloud available which helps me to get a list of all questions with a specific tag. In the profile settings I have my "Places" and "Bookmarks" and so on that makes the life of a moderator easier.
At the moment it seems that in the new community all this functions are gone and personally I see that moderating will not be a great user experience. 😉
Hello Christoph,
Thanks a lot for your feedback and sharing your thoughts. Beta is exactly the time to voice this kind of concerns as it will help us improve.
The full moderation process wasn't rolled-out yet and when it will, it will encompass a lot of great improvements:
• Moderation log
• Communicating with users on content
• Role based blogging
• And more
But, with saying that, I think it's worth to raise this feedback also in the moderators beta JAM space where others can share their feelings as well.
Thanks again,
Moshe
Fully agree with your ideas - I also think the tag cloud needs to be incorporated into the search for better drill down results. The power of combining multiple tags for better search results can only help community members better find the desired content.
- the excessively long 'tag' name you mentioned above is more like a 'space' or perhaps even a category?
[ After discussing this within the team I would like to provide you with an answer that summarizes what was said in the thread]
Hello,
Christoph, Thanks a lot for your feedback. A tag cloud isn't currently within scope, but it is under consideration like Brian said. At this point, however, we are not sure if and when we'll implement it.
At the moment, to "define" tags, you need to follow them. You can find and follow tags (like Gabi mentioned) through questions and answers, blog posts, search, or anywhere you see a tag that interests you.
Once you choose to follow a tag, you'll get updates about it in your profile's activity stream. If a tag is no longer preferred, you can unfollow it.
Regards,
Moshe
The tags (and people and content) you follow will affect what appears in your activity stream, to help surface the content most likely to be of interest.
