EPM Add-in Excel 2013 - Stooped Working

Afternoon Experts!!

Virgin post here, so please forgive me if this is the incorrect place to log this content or if some of my details are worded incorrectly.

We have user's on our site that use the EPM add-in for Excel and have been told that this has now been upgraded to the latest version 2.1.3 and this is bunched under a add-in called "Analysis". A few of our users were quite happily using this add-in before one day they logged in and it stopped working. You would press the Log-on button, the cursor will start to circle and then ......nothing....

Legacy tech-guys have said the only solution to fix the issue is a rebuild of the users NT profile, but i dont buy this as the "only solution" (easy to swap than fix)

Find below the details of our environment:

OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit

Office: Professional Plus 2013 32-bit

EPM Add-in Ver: 2.1.3

EPM Service Pack Ver: SP3

.net Framework Ver: 4.5.2

**Hope i havent missed anything out - PLEASE HELP!! there must be a fix!**

My thoughts are , there must be a user file, like say a .dll, reg-key specific to the login, app file , that needs replacing, deleting , re-reg to fix the problem - but any ideas, advice will be welcome

Did you try to upgrade EPM add-in client to new patch level? If not done please do so.

Hey Yogesh

Thank you for the reply. We have tried the update and no luck. The Log On button registers the click , before it stops working and no login screen appears and becomes dead.

I am curious to know where the button writes to or what function it tries to perform. As a new NT profile or another user using the same machine with the same setup works without issue, it narrows it down to the profile. Anyone that can offer advise to what that button does would be great or what .DLL controls this button and its connections almost

Hello Andy,

  • As far I know Client preferance configuration file stored @ C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\EPMXLClientPreference.XML

  • DLL File location is C:\Users\<USERID>\AppData\Local\Programs\SAP BusinessObjects\EPM Add-In

If your IT department needs to re-create user profile you can ask them to copy files in to new profile once new profile created.

Technically you can copy "EPMXLClientPreference.XML" file in to new profile after re-installaing software in client PC.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Regards,

Yogesh

Hi Andy.

Could you refer the SAP KBA's and also have you update the latest service pack of MS office 2013?

Hi Yogesh and S Sriram

Thank you both for your help!!

Yogesh i have marked your last response as the correct answer as your advice has helped me find the solution.

I found that all i needed to do was to delete the C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient folder, and then re-open the Analysis for Microsoft Excel straight after and then try the Log On button and the EPMOfficeClient folder recreated itself and the Log On box appeared!!!

Knew there had to be a easier way then a full NT User Profile recreation!!! User has tested and he is very happy - so am i!!!!

Thank you guys!!!!!!
