Emails are not sent from SCN

Hi,

I'm not getting emails from SCN.

On one hand it's good because I'm not getting "communications" mails from forums ('stop tracking' still doesn't work) and if the emails were sent I would get hundreds of them.

On the other hand I need an access code to the SUP test and evaluation environment.

After the registration to SUP (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/index?rid=/webcontent/uuid/40f61783-b13e-2f10-0081-8163d05712c5) an email should be sent to me, I don't get an error message but I don't get email either...

In the SUP registration page all the details are true (SCN User ID, first name, last name and of course email).

Regards,

Omri

Hi Omri,

If you hover the mouse over your name (in this thread) you will immediately realize the problem - you email address is x[name]@yahoo.com (notice the “x” at the beginning)

The reason for this is multiple user accounts in SCN (we strongly recommend not to have multiple user accounts for the same user - this is not useful in anyway)

You have at least two user accounts:

Username: omri.cohen

Email: x[name]@yahoo.com

User ID: P___552

Points: 1,371

Username: omri.cohen2

email: [name]@yahoo.com

user IS: S_______955

Points: 20

I can suggest 2 optional solutions:

Solution 1 (recommended)

I can delete your s-user (you will lose the 20 points gained for this user)

I will then change the username of the p-user to omri.cohen and the email to [name]@yahoo.com

Your s-user will continue being active in the marketplace (http://service.sap.com/)

Let me know if you wish to do this.

Solution 2

Log in to SCN with your p-user

Edit your user profile and change the email address to a unique one (not [name]@yahoo.com or any email that is already in use in SCN)

David

Hi David,

I had a long correspondence with SAP regarding the 'x' in the beginning of the email.

See call KMM6639551I5883L0KM (Case 3681081).

I was told that the duplicate user was deleted and 'x' is a 'known bug' (one of many in the new SCN).

I want to use SCN with puser and my Yahoo email (I don't want to use another email account).

I'm at a stage that I don't care about 'loosing' points and just want it to work

If it is not possible then I just give up.

p.s

Please delete my full email from your thread. I don't want it to be indexed by BOTs and get more junk mails.

Regards,

Omri

Hi Omri,

Your account is fixed; now you have one p-user account with the correct email address.

I cannot see the mentioned correspondence but I can add a few words in this regard:

I do not think that “bug” is the correct term for the “x” at the beginning of the email address.

Users that were active in the old SCN were automatically migrated into the new SCN platform.

In the new SCN platform we do not allow multiple user accounts assigned to the same email address.

For migrated users with multiple user accounts, one user account was active (chosen based on
usage algorithm) and the other user accounts non-active, thus with a prefix “x”
(or other) at the beginning of the email address.

User is able to log in with a non-active user account and change the email address to another (must be unique)

However we prefer if users remain with only one user account.

Kind regards,

David

Hi David,

First of all thanks for your help.

Regarding the duplicate account:
I had my p-user before the suser (at this point I didn't even know that suser can be used for SDN).

In the past few years I used my p-user for SDN.
When SAP migrated SDN to SCN I had trouble logging in (make sense because account in new SCN is set by email and same email was associated with two different users and that's why the 'x' was added to the email - so far so good).

I wrote to SAP and I was told that the suser was deleted and that I can now work with my puser.
I saw the 'x', asked about it and I was told that this is a display error).

From the mail:
So basically what you're saying that the 'x' in the beginning of the mail is a display error and the actual mail is [name]@yahoo.com (see attached screenshot).

Hello,

Exactly the X at the beginning is a disply error.

Shalom Omri,

I would not use the word “display” because from the new SCN platform point-of-view, the email address actually has a “x”

It is very possible that the support team deleted your s-user;

Note that if your account was deleted from the new SCN but not from LDAP (this is the correct procedure), then you perform a login with your s-user, this will cause your s-user account in the new SCN platform to be re-created based on your LDAP account.

Regards,

David.

Hi

Please help in this.

I'm getting emails from SCN.

I'm getting "communications" mails from forums and my mail box is flooded with these emails.

Can any one tell me  a solution to stop these mails?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Regards,

Rahul

Hi Omri,

There are two systems on two platforms, each with it's own URL.

About communications on scn.sap.com, you might have these turned off in your preferences and I suppose you might want to keep them that way because of the outstanding issue regarding stop following/tracking.

About the registration, which takes place on www.sdn.sap.com, please send an eMail to sapnetwork@sap.com so that they can check on this and isolate the issue. I've also noticed my colleagues in that dept. of this thread.

Hi Jason,

The option is turned on and I still don't get emails.

I sent an email to sapnetwork@sap.com and I'll update how it goes...

Thanks for your help.
