Email notifications based on tags

Hi,

There is no longer SAP Community but tags for the product.

To be aware of any new questions or blogs on the tag, we can follow the tag.

Hence, we adapted to it: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ATopics/SAP+Document+Center+-+Community

Now we can see the notifications in the Notifications section in our profile.

I also want to get email notifications when new content is posted or updated in a tag. How can i achieve it in this new setup?

Hello Ashwani,

Email notifications are on the roadmap and being developed now. We will be implementing it soon in an upcoming release. However, please note that the Email notifications will only be for the Notifications that our users ALREADY receive. Currently users are not notified of new questions or answers from the tags that they follow (unless receiving an answer on the user's own question). So with the rollout of Email Notifications users will not receive such an Email as such as notifications do not exist.
Your request would have to be further developed and we are in fact considering this feature of letting the user know somehow that new questions and answers are available from the tags that they are subscribed to. We have not refined this idea to the extent of a feature yet (as this can be achieved through multiple methods - Notifications, Activity Stream filters etc). More updates on this will be available in the future.

What is the point of following a tag then? I'm very much confused now... I didn't follow any spaces before because this resulted in tons of notifications about not just every new blog or discussion but also of every single reply to every discussion. And I'm also not following any tags now for the same reason - I prefer to go and check for new stuff when I have time.

But if someone follows a tag apparently they would prefer to get notified when something is posted. If they don't then what does following a tag do then?

New questions and answers from User Subscriptions are shown in the Activities tab in the Activity Stream Jelena. Just not as Notifications (This is something we are looking into). All follow content (subscribed content) goes to Activities. Notifications are independent of user subscriptions.

Hi Sajid,

In day to day work, emails are THE source of notifications. We don't go check Activities tab each day and will never do so.

Please note, SAP community is not a portal for us. It part of our day to day work. Email Clients are one place where we want all notifications to come.

SAP Community without email notification is not useful. We are missing many questions from our customers and partners. They often have to write mails to us to reply to those queries.

Current state is very bad. This feature should be included on very high priority. Just run a poll and you will come to know how badly this feature is missed.

Email Notifications is being developed as we speak Ashwani. There will be further announcements in the community when this feature is rolled out.
