Hi everyone,
While I'm in forums I realized that only questioners can give rew. points.
In my opinion, everyone who reads the thread should have the rights to give rew. points as not only the questioners take advantage of the answers but also other people use answers.
Request clarification before answering.
I wasn't intended to say something like that. My point was whoever make use of forum answers should give points.
In addition, I don't have any worry like earning points!!!

There have been several discussions about a more elaborate voting system in which not only OP has a say and negative votes are possible as well. I do not know if these possibilities are being investigated.
Gaming etc is a possible pitfall because in the current setup all points given are linked to a threads' OP. When everybody votes that'll require extra logging. Even with honest people there's quite a chance of friend-groups rewarding each other irrespective of the value of answers given.....
> As far as I know moderators could assign p. to exceptional threads/replies. Don't know if this is beeing done at all.
It is done in exceptions, or to iron out any oddities.
People who use the Abuse Reports a lot and make posts for which the OP is possibly not thankfull but the rest of SDN is, are also in exceptional cases given some "community ponits".
Sometimes the OP also gives ponits for incorrect answers and not others who warn him about the consequences. You know, cowboys to update the BSEG and stuff like that. I straighten these out as well.
But other than that, I try not to interfer. It is the OP's job and also interesting sometimes to see how they think about solutions via the ponits assigned to them.
A rating system by all is a cool idea, but as long as the ponits system remains a KPI for some... the less use of it the better.
Cheers,
Julius
I think a small "jury" would defeat the purpose of a community rating system.
Currently the indicator closest to this is the number of views of the thread combined with the ponits and possibly also the folks who participated - but there is no single "view" to this.
The search now does also show the status of the thread and highest ponits assigned, if found by the selection.
An open rating system which is completely diverced from the ponits system would be interesting as well. The OP might give 10 of the beloved's to the person who shows him how to delete from the BSEG, but if the whole community gives it a "thumbs down" then it might make them think twice, or even at all...
Cheers,
Julius
Thanks for encouraging and advocating the Point Gaming and multiple userIDs scheme! !
