Do we need minimum characters for the questions?

It might sound ridiculous but I'm starting to think if there should be minimum number of characters required for the questions?

Exhibit A:

This is, of course, an extreme example but there are lots of one-liners like "Give me step by step for X". Maybe at least this should hit pre-moderation?

"yes" as answer results in the message "The answer body is too short."

If 3 letters for an answer are to short then 2 letters for a question certainly be.

Hi Jelena,

Can you please post this suggestion in Idea place?

Hi Jelena,

Minimum characters may not work for all as number of characters depends on issue. And I think it's not a good idea to implement such hard rule.

Anyway we have "Alert moderator" option to highlight such posts, so it's very good option to report.

Is it really a hard rule to expect someone to state their issue clearly?

It's not like I'm suggesting to set 100 char minimum. An intelligently written question should be at least a full sentence, wouldn't you agree? Also, as Juergen correctly pointed out, we have 10 char minimum for the answers, so why not for the questions?

Reporting such posts just causes extra work for the SCN members and moderators. We all have much better things to do with our time.

Agree Jelena,

If number of such posts are too many then yes same 10 minimum char works for question too.
