Deleted blogs

Hi Guys,

Noticed that some blogs have been deleted recently. I notice this because they get into the rss stream but when I click through it goes to a page [https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/not_authorized.html|https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/not_authorized.html]

which has the content of "Not Authorized".

I think you guys could do a little better than that.

Even twitter used to have a cat stuck in a computer case!

While you are at it the standard "we are down and we'll be back in a hour" page could do with an update too.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi Nigel,

They may not have been deleted, but put back in to Edit mode by the author. We have had to cases of this where a member found a link somewhere to a blog and got the same message. When we checked, we found that the blog was in Edit mode.

Don't know why anyone would necessarily do that as you don't get any points for editing an old one

Best Regards,

David

What? You don't like the picture of a developer intensely staring at his laptop, paralyzed and unable to work until the system is restored? As for twitter, I often thought that twitter could improve itself by hanging the tweeter on the branch upside down with "x"s on its eyes. So much for taste. Must be a generation gap.

Sounds like another opportunity for a cartoon contest. Still waiting for the stalled next chapter of the cartoon network...

Don't know who is responsible for the message graphics but I'll surely forward your comments to those I guess might be interested in improving that.

It's about as appropriate as a the photo from transaction SE80 more recent installations of R3. I bet every ABAP developer goes to the airport they find the corner of the room with an acute angle and sits down with all their mates (ie none) flick open the laptop and start coding.

Anyway back to the issue at hand thanks for the update about edit mode David. It is possible to put a blog live by mistake. I have done that. Not withstanding the page should be more useful than Not Authorized.

for example ... [this|http://www.sap.com/missing/errorpage.epx?error=404&pagerequested=/missing/index.epx]

LOL . I always got a kick out of the IDES (education) graphic myself. It reminded me of a procession of robots going straight into the proverbial meat-grinder (remember: We don't need no education, Another Brick in the Wall, Pink Floyd).

Thanks Nigel for the concrete suggestion which was implemented. The link you stumbled on should bring you to [more intuitive text|https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/not_authorized.html ].

Thanks Marilyn that is a lot better than 'Not authorized'.

I'm going to really go out on a limb here. Do you think we might find a designer who can make it look pretty?

I am thinking it should at least have the main reverse L frame so that community members can decide where to go next.

thanks,

Nigel

"going out on a limb" - not at all. Only hope my weight won't crack the branch and send me tumbling. I'll try my luck....
