Hi all. I am Sugandh. I am fully confused with the modules to select for me, I am B.E (Electrical) passed 2003 with 7 Yrs of experience in different fields.
What I did was a bit confusing for myself as my all job profile are in different fields from starting first being in Production (1yr) to Consruction (1Yr) Electrical Estimation &; design (1Yr) and Electrical Harness design (4 Yrs). At present in Japan but returning this yr to update myself doing SAP from Delhi.
Well right now my job profile is something like this.
Responsible for design (product specifications, performance requirements, routing, and dimensioning) harnesses.
Prepare system wiring layout, detailed drawing, and schematic and harness model using CAD. Develop test plans and select hardware.
New Product Development & Design
Documentation and preparing the BOQ and Estimation of the electrical materials like connectors, code locks, cable lugs, terminals, ties, heat shrinks etc.
Managed cost reduction database. Analyzed step failure reports, proposed solutions and implementation
Redesign harness for cost reduction, manufacturability improvement and size reduction. Perform root cause analysis. Prepare technical reports
Preparing flow chart of the process and playing a key role in developing coding for PLC systems.
I also want to tell that I donu2019t like coding and developing software and language. i hate from starting, thatu2019s why didnu2019t took IT or Comp. Field.
Now Seeing this as my Exp. overall what can be best suited so that at least i can get a job in India after doing and can develop my skills to develop myself and my profile as a whole. I donu2019t want to be treated as fresher again while entering any industry. Means i donu2019t want to loose my exp. what I gained in these years. so let me know the modules which fits with mine or close to it.
and by which I can survive with a reputable salary in India soon, which have a good market in recent trends
Thanking you all
Waiting for your replies soon.

Hi,
If you enjoy the information analysis part of your career.
Try to rewrite your CV in such a way that you stress this point and try to use that to see if any SAP company sees the benefit of hiring you. I myself was trained a lot in this area and I use it a lot in SAP.
Or see if there are any traineeships in your area.
I don't think there is a particular SAP module which suits you right away.
Good luck!
Kind regards, Rob Dielemans

Dear Rob
thanks for ur suggestion, but i want to look at the braoder side. is SAP so narrow that my profile dont match with any of the modules uptill now?
Thats what i asked for if i have to join SAP which one will be beneficial?for now i kknow again i will have to be get updated in SAP modules after wards coz the Functional areas are so wide these days seeing the current industries requirement.
hi,
No I meant it in a broader way.
If I was thinking of hiring you I look at what is your added benefit, based on your proven work experience.
And having really strong information analysis skills is a valuable tool for a functional consultant or for someone into Business Process Modeling (Like I'm doing at the moment).
Module is secondary, if a company wants to hire you based on your skills they will send you in whatever SAP module they feel or what is hot at the moment.
Kind regards, Rob Dielemans
I am sure we both agree that your profile is not really suitable for SAP.
There are things you must consider: if there are any opportunities around you, that SAP market is tough and is VERY tough especially in India, if it makes sense to start with something 100% new when you can get more money and hopefully more rewarding feeling doing something you are good at and have experience with...
I heard too many sad stories, I don`t want to be impolite, but am trying to be honest at the same time - these stories were shared by Indian guys who left families, sold everything and paid for SAP training and end up with empty hands, no job, no career...
I am not trying to scare you, but you must be warned.
Self education is not an option in 95% of the cases, direct job as SAP consultant or developer for somebody very much from outside is also very rare unless you lie and keep lying since then... maybe a SAP related job through a company which uses SAP (customer) could be an option?
Cheers Otto
