Changing Employers

I'm about to change Employers.  That means that me S# with OSS must change.  My account here is via that S#.  Does that mean that I will loose all of my work on this account?  Is there any way to transition?

Unfortunately, at this time it is not possible to consolidate SCN accounts, link them or transfer points, badges or content from one account to another. Our identity management system is complex and we are working to develop a functionality to consolidate accounts, but since it is complex work it is taking more time than originally expected. I am sorry for the inconvenience this is causing to you. At the moment what you can do is create a new account and start from scratch with no content and no points, and once the functionality to merge accounts is available you will be able to benefit from it.

So, it sounds like you should never use your S Account.  P Accounts are permanent and therefore should be preferred.  Would you agree with that statement?

You did not ask me, but I agree. I'm quite happy that I chose a P-account ten years ago. I had several S-accounts since, but never bothered when any of them expired.

Downside is only that you cannot install a certificate (if I'm correctly informed at all).

Thanks Thomas,

The certificate seemed quite helpful.  And I'm hoping to retire from this next company (in oh say 20 years), so maybe I should wait for the next S#...

Sorry,  I should have searched better.  The following appears to solve this:

I'll get my new employeer in January 2014.  I guess the lingering question is do I get a new P Number , or wait for them to assign an S#?
