Changing display name

Hi,

my SCN account is bound to my company S-User ID.

I want to create a new personal life-long account which belongs to myself only.

I changed my display name from my real name ( on https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/updateprofile# ) to something else so that I can use my real name as display name for my new personal account.

However during the registration process I am told that the requested display name was in use be another account.

Does it take some sync time until the old display name becomes available for new accounts?

BTW: Where is https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/updateprofile# linkes on the SCN site?

When you create a new account, you'll have to select something other than frank.luzat, which is already in use with your existing account. Perhaps frankluzat or frank.luzat1.  You'll also need a unique URL.

To edit you profile details,

  1. Go to Former Member
  2. Click Edit Profile & Privacy in the actions box on the right side of the page

Having multiple accounts on SCN is strongly discouraged. Furthermore, please note that account mergers are temporarily suspended.

What you mention seems to be my userID. I was talking about the "Display Name" which is shown here on the post.

Ich changed it on my company Account to something else, and after some more minutes the "old" display name was free to use with my new personal account.

I agree that having multiple accounts is discouraged, but what choice do I have?

Since original my account (S-User) belongs to my employer, I want to have a personal one which I can keep for the rest of my life.

Do you have other suggestions?

Hi Frank,

You're registered on SCN via your OSS account (a.k.a. S User account) that was issued to you through your employer.  Certain information is pulled from this account into SCN and therefore cannot be changed from this platform.

You'll have to contact the administrators at your company, from whom you received your account information from, and ask them to update your details.

About multiple accounts, most SCN members move on to a new account after they end their relationship with the company where their S-User Id was issued. While SCN cannot migrate points and history at the moment, the functionality should be restored soon.
