Hi,
I have to use this forum as part of my job.
While I tend to like the stack-like voting functionality and the quality of the questions in this forum, I overall
dislike working with this tool.
This is especially because of the poor integration for code within my answers/questions.
I cannot use the well-known markdown language as I can in GitHub and most forums of this kind.
The code-block button does not really help. It sometimes wipes out all whitespaces and indentations while pasting code. While on the same time it keeps my editor color scheme, which makes the pasted code un-readable while I write my answer -> I cannot see the white font on the white background. Check this screenshot:
The list of issues continues. I'm sure most developers have a hard time working with this tool.
I do not intend to rant against this forum, I just really wished for years that the editor gets improved but it doesn't.
So: Are there any plans to improve the editor? Maybe replace with a markdown editor? If not, please explain why not. 🙂
To answer my own question: Yes, there are plans for improving this forum.
In this blogpost - shared just today - it was announced that this community will move to a new platform. With improved capabilities w.r.t. this Q&A section and much more.

Hi Patrice,
I don't know of concrete plans but I do know about this proposal to enhance the editor which was put forward: https://blogs.sap.com/2022/07/14/enable-gutenberg-editor-in-sap-blogs/
Additionally I wrote a blog on how to at least indirectly write my blogs in Markdown: https://blogs.sap.com/2023/03/21/collaborating-on-sap-blogs-using-git-and-markdown/
If you have improvement proposals (I'm working on a better solution for images already), please feel free to open a PR!
Best regards,
Niklas
