I've noticed this several times - hit 'Alert moderator', type a couple of words, click 'Alert moderator' button and it turns grey and the page just freezes. Click Cancel and refresh the page - 'unauthorized' message comes up. I'm guessing this happens when a moderator gets to the post faster than I report it (sometimes I open a post but then work stuff comes up and the post stays open for a while).
Shouldn't there be some kind of error message instead of the web page just going to la-la land? In case it matters I use IE 8 (which is highest available for XP).
Thank you!

It happens when somebody else was quicker than you and had already alerted a moderator. Still your report is added, even the screen freezes. And since 2 reports automatically hide the content you get the unauthorized message after a refresh.

It happened with me lot of times and I also had to wait for a while and after refreshing the page I come to know that someone was more quicker than me
There should be error message in pop up like we get in SAP. This is from functional consultant. From programming point of view I don't know how hard it is to control this.
