Add image on status update and reply of a direct message

How to add an image on status update as same like as below statuses :

And suppose, someone sent me a direct message and I am replying on the same message.

In that case, s/he can attach image but I can't. Is there any way where I can also attach image while replying in the direct message or even while replying in a status update ?
