Unable to Assign Single Packaged Product to Unpackaged Components with Different UN Numbers in DG

Hi everyone,

I'm encountering an issue in our S/4 HANA Product compliance app related to classifying components with different UN numbers. Specifically, this involves the Manage Basic Compliance app. Here’s a step-by-step description of the problem:

Assign Packaged Product to First Unpackaged Product:

In the compliance view, navigate to the first unpackaged product, which is the diesel component.
Assign the packaged product classification to this first component (e.g., trench compactor).
Verify that the assignment is successful.

Attempt to Assign the Same Packaged Product to Second Unpackaged Product:

In another compliance view, navigate to the second unpackaged product, which is the battery component.
Attempt to assign the same packaged product classification (trench compactor) to this second component.

An error message is generated, indicating that the same packaged product classification cannot be assigned to both components

This issue arises because we have two DG unpackaged products (battery and diesel) with different UN numbers, and we need to classify them under a single packaged product (trench compactor). This restriction impacts our ability to manage compliance accurately.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards

Hello

after rereading of this sentence:

This issue arises because we have two DG unpackaged products (battery and diesel) with different UN numbers, and we need to classify them under a single packaged product (trench compactor).

I would like to ask questions to get a better understanding

Reading between the lines: we have one material number describing the "battery" and one for the "diesel"

Not knowing your material concept.. this is my understanding

You assemble the "diesel" and the "battery" to get a "trench compactor" (which is having a different material number)

Now you would like to sell the "trench compactor" and to do so you need a "Dangerous Goods Information"

This is quite tricky (even in the old EHS Classic world). As there is no chemical reaction between "battery" and "Diesel".. i can understand your concern..

More or less: on e.g. SAP SD and / or TM documents you would like to "print" on the document the DG relevant data of "battery" and "diesel" seperate.

My understanding is: in SAP ERP/ECC for your topic there is no solution available and you need to look for a customer specific approach.

Based on best understanding on my side: for S/4 HANA Product Compliance SAP 2023 On premise version: you will not find a solution.

I propose to start an OSS dialog asking SAP for advice.

With best wishes

Hello Christoph, Thank you for your detailed response and for seeking to understand our situation better. You are correct in your interpretation. We have two components, a battery and diesel, each requiring different UN numbers. These are assembled into a trench compactor, which has its own material number. Our objective is to sell the trench compactor and provide Dangerous Goods Information for both the battery and diesel separately. The challenge we are facing is that the system does not allow us to classify these components under a single packaged product classification, which impacts our ability to manage compliance effectively. Based on your advice, I will start an OSS dialog with SAP to seek further guidance on this issue. Thank you for your help and suggestions. Best wishes, Ajit Dude

Hello

we would need some details. Do you use a "on prem" version of S/4 HANA and if so: which version. Same question for "cloud": Do you use a "cloud" variant an if yes: which version?

With best regards
