UDS start without login

Hello again,

I have yet another question, even though this time it is not mission critical.

Our OPC Server is running on a machine in a laboratory remote to my working place. In order to facilitate testing capabilities it has been suggested to configure the computer with the OPC Server on it so that it only needs to be switched on to run properly, i.e. no user needs to log in locally. It was assured that the OPC server has that capability, alas I couldn't find a documented way to start the UDS service automatically. Is it impossible to start a UDS without manually pressing that "play" button or has anyone an idea?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Andreas,

To connect to the OPC you need to install the OPCUDA connector in the OPC server machine. And after that you need to configure the connector to the OPC server and then you can make hand shake between the SAP-xMII server and OPC using the connector.

Thanks,

Thanks for the answer Rajesh.

To get this clear, I do have a connection running between the OPC server and xMII via UDS/UDC (though it is a bit "unstable", see the very first question I posted here). The problem is, that I need someone with the login for the machine the OPC server is running on, because I need to start the UDS manually using the UDS Admin. The only thing for remote control to the UDS I found is REstarting it. And what I want is to configure the UDS so it starts automatically at system booting and doesn't need the manual input.

Thanks,

Andreas

Andreas, when you create a UDS, you are actually creating a Windows Service with the same name. So if your UDS name (in UDS Admin) is "myConnection" there is a Windows Service called "myConnection". So, all you have to do is in Windows Services, set the service to start automatically.

Thanks a lot for the answer. Shows me that I still need to learn about Services.

That way my work is really a lot easier. So thanks again!

Greetings,

Andreas
