UDS SP02_5 not working

Hi,

we wanted to test the fix for problem that has been

published with UDS Version SP02_5.

Unfortunately we are not able to use UDS at all:

We got a problem with the version of the UDS (XMIIUDS40SP02_5-10005680.ZIP).

After a fresh install or an upgrade of a previous version the UDS-Admin

cannot be started anymore. The error message is:

Could not execute the BasicAdminConsole, the program will exit.

(-2147010895) Automation Error

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) hs been

installed prior to the UDS

-984d-389c36f85647&displaylang=de)

The UDS-Log does not contain any data ( it logs uds-service activity, only).

The event log contains 3 entries:

Eventtype: Error

Eventsource: SideBySide

Eventcategory: Keine

EvcentID: 32

Eventinformation:

I got this same error on a server 2008 r2 machine. I needed to right click the EXE and select run as administrator.

Matthias,

is the UDS on the same Server as MII? Which NW Version and which MII Version you are running?

The UDS that you mention are running fine on my box, but I try only the DA and not the HDA. What

happen with the DA?

Hi Pedro,

of course we do not have UDS on the MII server. We did a complete new installation on Server 2003 and XP on fresh systems

in a VM. Nothing helped. We are not able to run the UDS Admin console a all so I can not tell you anything about configuring

services.

What is your system configuration where UDS works?

Any further suggestions?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi,

I have exactly same problem in last two weeks with all new installations on Windows servers (virtual and real) but on WXP installation and running is OK.

Checking and installed vcredist_x86.exe as instructed has no effect.

Matthias,

I am working on Windows 2003 SRV x64. I also provide the OPC Core Components V3 + the last VCR-Library from

Microsoft for x64. Nothing more. MII and UDS are on the same Server. Customer have this on different PC.

Could you answer my questions from first post?

Hi Pedro,

excuse me, I did answer all of your questions related to my problem. We do run UDS separated from the server as it is intended

to be. So what does the MII version than matter? And, I am not able to configure any service so there is not have a connection to MII. I can offer you 2 systems that are running: 12.0.9 and 12.1.7 standard installations. Regarding the OPC-Interface: We would like to use both OPC-DA and OPC-HDA.

So, what really seems to be different to you is that we tried to install UDS on x32 OSes (Windows Server 2003 and XP). Maybe that's the problem. I will try an installation on a x64 system.

Thanks,

Matt

I don't think so. Our cutomer running UDS on Windows x86 system without any problems. I will install it again and let you know

the result. When you run the Admin Console you will get no error windows and nothing logging in the UDS Log?

I install right now on Windows XP the UDS without any issue. I think the best would be to create a OSS Message and

that someone from the Dev connect directly to your system.

Hi,

anyone using UDS? It would be of great use if some of you could find some minutes to try to install UDS SP5 and report

experience here. Please be careful and read the installation doc as there are some prerequisites.

Thanks,

Matthias,

as I told you in my post before, no problems with SP5 on Windows x86 (2003, XP).

This scenario with UDS SP5 we have running at different customer.

Hi Pedro,

yes, I know. But I am not alone. As Janez Stupar stated above more systems didn't work than were working (only XP).

So, how we could come to a state where we try to find the problem. We are not playing with MII. We have real customer

projects and have headaches (not only this..). We have to chace down this problems such that the customers get more

convinced from MII. How many projects did you have from scratch with prototypes that did not work like expected? I would

like to stop saying... "the trouble is that MII (UDS) does not provide this feature..... Customer asking: Did you install the latest

version? Answer: Yes, we have tried this, but it didn't work.... Customer: Is there a solution around it? What is the effort?"

I am not here to bash you with saying it does not work. If it would work, I would never touch this issue here. I just want to

find a solution and be successfull with our new projects here in Germany. And we are working close with SAP.

What do you think the customer is thinking of an OSS call that was issued in March and still not working?

Matthias,

did I understand you right, that SAP support connect to your system to fix this issue and could not fix it? The only thing that I

can say you is, that we have (>30 real project with UDS4) without problems. The most problems are coming with DCOM

settings and cross Domains. If you like you can establish a webex and invite me to check some stuffs.

Hi Pedro,

that's a good idea. You are very welcome to do a web session. I will contact you next week for this as I will be off office from

tomorrow on.

Regarding the HDA error. It is fixed in UDS SP5 but unfortunately til now not useable.
