Tracking an individual's exposure to hazardous agents

I am trying to track an employee's exposure to a couple of hazardous agents using EH&S industrial health. The scenario I am attempting to cover goes something like this: the employee wears a device that tracks their exposure when in the hazardous area upon exiting the area they need to capture the digital meter readout. I need to be able to show the historical dose received for each entry into the hazardous area, the annual exposure, and the employees total lifetime exposure.

I have created the agents (associated units of measure, class / characteristics, property tree etc), meters as serialized materials, but have not been able to find much documentation of how the personal exposure log should be set up. Can anyone point me to documentation or outline the general steps needed to track the employees exposure history.

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

What you are looking can be achived through Occupational Health component of SAP-EHSM.

Please see the topic "Exposure Group" in Occupational Health component.

It says:

The exposure group object type (just like the position, job and task object types) can be used to indirectly assign agents with the same rating to persons. Exposure groups make it easier to determine the persons who are exposed to the same agents and the same ratings for these agents, and who must therefore undergo a health surveillance protocol because of this exposure.

May be useful to you.

Niraj

Hi John,

In order to have Exposure Monitoring, you need to use both IHS-Risk assessment and OHS-Exposure group functionality.

Follow these simple steps in the same sequence to have Exposure monitoring:

1. Create an Agent in the Agent workbench and maintain the general properties in the property tree. 2. Create a new Value Assignment type & Value assignment for setting the Exposure reference value.

3. Now, in SPRO, you need to maintain the Measurement items.

4. Define your Specified Measured/ Reference Value category and Amount Category and Assign Agent types.

5. Now, you need to Determine Measurement items in which you specify the Value Assignment type & Value assignment (which you have created in property tree for Reference Exposure limits)

6. In order to monitor the Exposure limits, create a Risk Assessment and maintain the Exposure readings in Amounts tab. This will help you to maintain all the historical dose & help you to track annual/ life time exposure.

7. Go to Analysis tab and provide the details of Amount Category & Measured Value Category.

System automatically compares the Reference value with the Actual readings and will calculate the Main Rating of the Exposure.

8. In order to link to Exposure Group, As Niraj said, you need to maintain Exposure Group: Use Infotype 1403 for Long Term Average/ 1404 for Task related Exposure and maintain Trigger levels in your Health Surveillance Protocol definition,

9. System automatically proposes the Medical Service if any of the threshold limits are exceeded.

Hope it Helps,

Raghu
