If there are two protected areas in a textedit control, and you want to insert new text between these two areas, this only works, if the control is in Insert-Mode. In overwrite mode no characters are inserted on keyboard activity. You have to press the INSert-Key to toggle from overwrite to insert mode. Many users don't know this.
Are there any function to set the writingmode from within the program?
Thanks
Michael

can't say if there is a FM , but you can do programming for this purpose, or display a message above textedit , so that user can read it.

That's unfortunately not the answer I expected. A kind of workaround will always be possible for this problem.
I rather thought, there is an appropriate Method in the Control-Framework to set the behavior of the textedit control.
I saw some methods within the general CL_GUI_CONTROL class that deal with Control properties or cached properties, but I don't know if they can influence the insert/overwrite mode of the textedit control.
Perhaps someone has an idea for this subject.
