Technical Object alternative Cost Center for WO Settlement

Just wondering is anyone has any ideas on how to solution this issue. I have some ideas but am interested if anyone else out there has a solution they use that works.

Standard SAP - Work Orders are used for planning and scheduling maintenance work and settle the costs to the Asset (FLoc or Equip) cost center.

In some cases our Operating Business Unit create Work orders to carry out Operational work but this work is budgeted under their Operations Cost Center not the Asset Cost Center. Majority of the time the settlement rule isn't changed so the Asset Cost Center is used and Finance have to journal the costs every month. The Operating Business Unit want to use work orders so they can plan and schedule this work.

I am looking for a way to assign the Operational Cost Center to the FLoc or Equip and a fool proof way to automatically call that cost center as the settlement if the Work Order is for Operational work. I really don't want to create an additional Work order Type because I think this will make the situation worst.

Has anyone out there have a similar scenario like this?

Graham,

Tip: tag your posts with the following and you will get a better response:

PLM Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)/Plant Maintenance (PM)

.

Yes - we did something similar on a previous client. When the user pressed the save button in the order a user-exit validated the current settlement rules as follows:

  • If the rules were consistent, then the order saved as usual (no messages)
  • If the rules were inconsistent, but settlement had not occurred on this order previously, then the rules were automatically updated (no messages)
  • If the rules were inconsistent, and settlement had occurred on this order previously, then the rules could not be automatically updated (waring popup issued to the user informing them of the issue, and with the option to return to the order and correct the information)
