Hi All,

I am new in EHS and I would have a look at it. Would you please share with me any start point (Link, document and so on) if you have? How and from where should I start?

I found just a book on Amazon but unfortunately it was out of stock

Thanks in advance,

Omid

Hi Omid

Go through the below link of SAP Documentation in which you can found with basics and each and every component of SAP EHS.

Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) - SAP Library

For New Solutions of EHSM Component extensions , go through below documentation

Dear Omid

I hope that you will find enough information about EHS and how to start in the document as identified by yourself:

Balajee highlighted the most important links to SAP Help for EHS.

According to your published CV you have worked in the past in other areas. To understand EHS you need to have on top knowledge in SAP MM and SAP SD (at least). If you drill down you in EHS will find interfaces as well to SAP TM, SAP GTS, SAP PM, SAP PP etc.

Your topic has been discussed very often. Only a "limited" number of threads are referenced in the document "SAP EHS Management for Beginners". If you execute a simple inquiry you will a lot of more links.

Hi Christoph,

Thanks for your reply and your knowladge sharing on EHS.

In fact I am a HCM techno-functional consultant. I know MM and SD procedures specially from FI side also but overally not in detail.

The point you mentioned as prerequisit of EHS is great for me because I was looking for EHS from HCM side.

I will appreciate it if you let me know how EHS can affect MM or SD procedures by an example which I go and check in IDES system as a start point.

By the way, have you ever used EHS in HCM side also?

Regards,

Omid

Dear Omid

I have only shortly googled to get ideas about SAP HCM. I am sorry to say that I was not able to detect any overlap to SAP EHS solution; SAP EHS does have "only" some interface to SAP HR. So your starting position in EHS is "not very good". But that should not hinder you to consider SAP EHS as a potential interesting future option. If you drill down this FORUM you will find many similar examples. That means consultants from SAP FI and othere areas are interested as well in learning SAP EHS.

Only some short feedback regarding:

"EHS can affect MM or SD procedures"; this is a link in both directions.  To use SAP EHS (for some purposes) you need to link SAP EHS and SAP MM; SAP SD is linked to SAP EHS mainly in the area of SDS/MSDS distribution and Dangerous goods handling; but other integration options do exist as well.Check may be:

The main integration points are quite good explained here::

Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) - SAP Library

and here:

Extension 5.0 for SAP EHS Management – SAP Help Portal Page

The topic of training / certification etc. is mentioned as well in document: "SAP EHS Management for Beginners".

E.g. SAP FI etc. links to EHS are discussed here:

or here:

As SAP EHS is a "big" module it is nearly impossible to give you additional guidelines. The main "hint" is: Component Extension solution is getting now a "hype"; therefore mans project seem to come up; SAP EHS classic is "old" to a certain extent; in most case there is only the need to prepare "small" changes and I assume most chemical companies using SAP do use SAP EHS since years and the REACH and GHS hype is "over" to  a certain extent. Clearly on regular basis changes are needed; but no real "big projects"

So if you are interested in SAP EHS you should may be check "Component Extension" solution. Here the link to SAP HR is "very" closed (as we talk about Incident and risk handling for persons etc.
