SAP xrpm and cprojects system landscape - installation

I had a question relating to system landscape for XRPM and cprojects implementation.

From my previous projects we had different ABAP server altogether for xRPM. JAVA component was installed on NW.

Now we are implementing xrpm and cprojects (4.5) on another project. The client has ECC 6.0 and wishes to leverage this server. Do you recommend if ABAP component can be installed on same ECC server?

I am thinking there might be upgrade or performance inssues (though performance depends on calculations as per sizing guide).

I have not seen any specific document/landscape diagram which says that the ABAP servers have to be different or can be same.

We have around 300 items per dashboard with 150 concurrent users.

Can you please suggest or provide a direction on this.

Hi,

I would recommend you to use sepearte server for xRPM/cProject rather than using ECC server. The reason behind that is simply performance issue.

Hi,

I confirm! We have this set-up and we are already facing performance issue. So I advise to use 2 separate severs as well.

Amit, Matthias, Nishit - Thanks for the response

I second your opinions.

I had few more queries, if you can address it I would appreciate it.

1. I activated standard business content and performed all steps in source and BI system for RPM reporting in Report and Analytics. It still shows Exception ID error. Do you think there is any portal or other setting to be done to show up? Also, where can I find the log file for RPM to debug Exception ID errors?

2. Need to upload documents for Decision points. Which is recommended of the two - a. Attachment and links or b.

Collaboration

Also, Do document in Attachment and links sit in content server? And where do documents for Collaboration sit?

Thanks for your suggetions

Hey Anand,

There is no information available from SAP on this. But on a user front, even mine is the same experience. Have your separate servers for ECC as well as ABAP.

If you need any further information on this, please let me know.
