SAP S/4 HANA Waste Management scope

Hi,

Any idea about the end to end scenario that can be covered in Waste Management using SAP S/4 HANA On-Premise Environment Management ?

From what i understood is that there is only apps for Disposal documents and maintaning waste codes in order to monitor it in the environment management, but if we need to provide a complete cycle as it was in ECC how can we cover it in new solution ?

Hi Poornima,

Waste Management as part of SAP Environment Management in SAP S/4HANA 2022 release covers end to end process of waste management similar to ECC with some integration related development for invoicing, storage management, reporting and cost allocation still to come in the next year or two. You are able to store waste codes, management waste material data, manage waste disposal partners such as transporters and disposal facilities, create waste stream and disposal channels as well as create waste transfer request with 2022 OP release. Germany Manifest capabilities are already available as example and US Hazardous Waste Manifest capabilities to follow next year. Hope that helps.

I have a query regarding the monitoring of these waste management process such as waste transports and disposal from S/4 HANA.

Will it be included in Compliance scenario somewhere or it is standalone inside Environment Management?

If it is included, can it be mapped for deviations(as we will do for other emissions) as well or it will be just analytics?

Any thoughts ?

Hi Neeraj,

This is a different waste and recycling solution by a partner of SAP, Prologa. This solution is used by companies that pick up waste from customer locations. Like in US there is a company called Waste Management. This is not meant for companies that generate waste and want to dispose it for compliance purposes.

Hi Poornima,

Waste Management process does reuse some components/apps of EM but also has some new apps available to support the process. Currently Compliance Scenario is not being used for the Waste Management Process. In a stand alone app called Manage Waste Transfer Request is where transactions related to waste generation are tracked and then are used to generate a shipping document.

The monitoring of the waste generation will be done with a new analytics app that is available as well called Waste Analytics.
