SOLVED, with the detective work of an experienced senior consultant and experienced abaper. The necessary jobs weren't initiated despite at first sight all being seemingly correct in configuration and authorizations. The client's system required additional authorizations for the jobs to start running (security reasons) and some services to be activated.
