I'm trying to figure out how to properly schedule a CNC mill with 6 pallets. The machine is currently set as a single work center with 7.42 hrs per shift of availability. When it runs, we have 6 pallets in process, each with a different part number loaded which is very efficient for spindle time but each pallet processes only once every 6th cycle. So, SAP thinks that each work order processing time = setup time + (router time x qty) but in reality, it takes much longer than that. The labor time per piece is correct but the overall time to complete the WO is incorrect. Thoughts? We considered creating 6 work centers each with 1/6 the available time of the machine but that would require scheduling 6 work centers which seems a little excessive.
