Currently we have a rescheduling horizon of 6 weeks set in SAP. Is there a way that this can be extended for certain parts? If we have a supply issue on a part we would want to still drive components into stock rather than push them out as exceptions, this would then enable us to ramp production up once the issue is resolved.

Hello Julie,
you can use transaction OPPZ to adjust rescheduling horizont per MRP group.
This MRP group can be then assigned to specific material in material master on MRP1 view (transaction MM01 / MM02).
