Hello All,
I have two questions
1.when I go to CG02 transaction to change a specification, somehow the Change Number field is greyed out. I am not able to make any changes using Engineering Change. How to correct this, so I can change specifications (real_sub) using change masters ?
2. Also I can link material master from specification. Basically from inside the view of specification I can see Material Master linked to it. Can I do the reverse, somehow from inside Material master can I see the specifications assigned to it ?.
Thanks,
Sachin

Hallo Sachin,
1. to work with change numbers you have to select the valid change number in the starting selection screen og CG02.
To do this, click on the header "Key date for editing" and enter the change number here.
2. from my understanding there is no way to see assigned specifications from the material master. But you can use the serach option in the starting screen of CG02 and enter a material here to see which specifications are assigned.
Best regards,
Christoph

Hello Christoph / Sachin,
Small correction to what Christoph said, it is possible to do the reverse - I mean assign and see the specification from material Master. Carry out IMG activity - Set Up Specification assignment in Material Master, in which you need to add appropriate screen number.
Thanks

Hello Sachin,
Navigate to Logistics General and access Material Master in SPRO.
Under Configuring the Material Master -> Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence, check whether the screen sequence SP exists. Also check whether screen 91 exists in SP and whether it has the type 2 (secondary screen).
Under Assign Secondary Screens, check whether screen 91 of screen sequence SP is assigned to the additional screens. This is the case if a number is entered in the Additional column. If no number is entered, you must assign the screen to the additional screens. To do this, click the "page" icon.
Assign a screen sequence to a combination of one or more transactions, users, material types, or industry sectors. As a result, this screen sequence appears automatically for the respective user(s) when the transaction, material type, or industry sector is chosen
The IMG Node - "Set Up Specification Assignment in material Master " under Specificaiton Master - Basic Data tools shows more information on this activity.
Thanks
Jayakumar
Hello Chris and Jaya,
As I informed you when I use CG02 on the Specification Header the CHANGE NUMBER FIELD IS GREYED OUT, hence I am not able to make any changes using Change number. How to fix this problem.
Secondly if there is a MM screen which can be configured to see the Specifications from inside of Material Master whats the number of the screen.
Thanks,
Sachin

Hello all
regarding the use of change numbers and how to apply them in the area of EH&S there is a chapter available in SAP online help and if you check customizing I believe further input can be found. Further more there might by some "Consulting" OSS notes available on marketplace explaining this feature in more detail.
May be take a look here too:
http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46C/en/Data/htm/english.htm
You will find an entry regarding EH&S. here you can do a download of a pdf file (very nice feature ! called LOSEC.pdf).
On page 25 and following the topic is explained.
In any case: The use of this option is very "risky" according to my experience. You must really understand what you are doing because this feature has an initensive effect on the behaviour regarding the daily use of EH&S (e.g. searching data, printing data in WWI report etc.) and in former EH&S versions it does not "work" properly. I have never investigated this option once again. That means may be in ECC 6.0 this option works "better".
Further more this option should be used only by highly experienced users of EH&S.
With best regards
C.B.
PS: you can use change numbers e.g. in the area of "specifications" and "phrases"
PPS: Hello Sachin: Could you please give a short summary regarding: Which SAP version you are using? SAP ERp 2004/SAP ERP 2005 (if so enhancemnet package installed etc.)
