Publishing MSDS on external portal from SAP DMS

Hello Experts,

We have one urgent requirement - MSDS publishing on the client external portal from SAP DMS.

Scenario:

MSDS report will get generated as per standard WWI process and from the Report Management system manually export the report by Exp_Call in Report shipping. Once it is finished the final report SBE will get stored in Kpro Content server. The requirement is how we can pull this document to external portal and also to take the CD back-up for the generated MSDS. If the only way is PI, then please let me know how to map the fields in DMS and portal, so that customers can query with different search options ( like Material name, Trade Name or by CAS number)

Any insights on this will be highly appreciated!

Dear Vinoth

as in your example we are using EXP_CALL to solve the topic. The main difference is: we do not store the SBEs in DMS or Kpro Content server but directly pushing the documents in a folder structure together with data (like sales org, material number, material text and others). External tools can pull the document and meta data from the folder and process it in such a way that the data can be shown in external or internal portals.

I am not so familiar with "kPro content server"; If we are talking about DMS I can more help:

the "main" issue is that in DMS you "lost" any further information (no relation ot materoil number etc.

Depending on your set up of EXP_CALL: if you do not delete the report shipment data regarding exp_call you could use standard transaction to CVD1 to find the data (material number, material text, sales org etc.). In most cases XI/PI is not used to do the job.

I believe Michael is referring to the old TechniData solution which seems now to be avaivalbe as a specific service by SAP

With best regards

C.B.

PS: in most case the SBE wil be a pdf document; but that is not a problem (refer to other threads in this FORUM)

HI Vinoth,

Web portal can be designed as you like, with different queries.

You can use with the standard idoc available in SAP - REPMAS01

Structures available part of the idoc, to pick the correct document according to your query.

for ex.,  BAPI1092DH, BAPI1092DJ, etc.,

other than these you also can focus on the table ESTDH to get the relevant document.

Let me know, still you have any doubts on this.

Dear Vinoth

based on what Kamal has explained: normally in a "web Protal" you need not only the "report" as such but other data as well. Therefore in my opinion you need to use not only REPMAS but other ALE processes as well; IN the sace you have SAP ERP <=> SAP ERP system ALE you need:

a.) material master

b.) specificaiotn master (at leased header ! ESTRH)

c.) Then you can use REPMAS

Hi Vinoth,

there is an EHS Web-Interface as predefined implementation service available. Maybe it is possible to include this Web-Interface into the customer portal. Precondition is a connection to the SAP system.

Please let me know if you need more details.

Hi Vinoth,

I have attached some slides with general information, a screenshot and an architecture diagram. If your requirements fits with the service I would suggest to contact your Sales Account Manager or the service owner Michael Veit (michael.veit@sap.com) directly.
