Dear All,

I have integrated PPM Item with PS Project. When I click "Create a Project on Saving" PPM Item creating project PS project automatically as per project template. Though I have below queries for which I need your expert opinion.

  1. I am able to transfer the PPM Item Cost as a budget to this project. But for this, I need to add this project manually in the relationship->Object link tab as "Account Assgmt: Project Definition (PS)"
  2. Adding project manually in relationship->Object links is std to transfer the budget/plan cost for PPM to PS or I am missing something?
  3. Is it possible, to add this project automatically after creation here?
  4. Business need PS project should be created at specific decision point status. Let me know can be possible with enhancement or some std configuration we can achive the same?
  5. How I can determine the project number automatically, so the same can be assigned to PPM Item and the entire project creation could be automatically on saving Item?

Regards

You should not have to add the PS project manually if you are using the "Create Project from Template on Saving" feature. What happens if after creating the project and not adding anything manually you go to the Fin Planning screen and click on Transfer to ERP? What does the log show?

Hi Ken,

The Below configuration is maintained for Project creation.

When I click on "Create Project on Saving" and select the template from "Project template" It's creating a project. (I am giving manually PPM ID which will create a project in PS with the same ID)

The Project is getting created successfully. Now, if I go in financial planning and click on"Transfer to SAP ERP" it gives "No Planning element has been assigned" also I am not getting the menu option in the item menu i.e. Project->PS Project. Also, no object is added in the Relationship -> Object link.

So, if I add the same project via relationship->object link-> AccountAssigned: Project Definaiton, then I am able to trasfer the budget from PPM Item to PS project and also, able to get menu option where I am able to open the project directly from PPM Item?

Any thoughts on the missing link/configuration work this setup automatically?

You should not have to add the object manually.

Follow Akash's blog on configuration and look at the blog mentioned in Akash's blog on how to debug this issue.

Dear Akash,

1. I have checked to settings related to creating/updating PS Project based on PPM Item. Everything is in line as mentioned. But, still has an issue. Waiting for SAP reply as I have raised OSS message for same.

2. I have referred you to a blog where the proposed solution is changing item type to have project creation validation. But, my client required is to have a complete phase-gate approach (initiation to close) within one Item type.

Can you propose any BAPI to used for a customized approach to achieve this requirement in case used earlier?
