PPM - Financial planning start and finish date in Bucket

Hi Experts,

Raising same query again.

As we all know bucket is a master data in SAP PPM which has multiple items getting executed under it.

So, the ideally Financial planning start and finish date of a bucket must be a very long duration.

To my knowledge SAP does not recommend to use a very long duration. Because it effects system performance while performing Financial planning for that period.

But, we cannot avoid that.

We normally use short duration like 4 to 5 years in Financial planning start and finish date of a bucket but thereafter it keeps on increasing as years passes. At the end, we again land-up same performance issue.

Kindly suggest a solution for that.

Is that the right way of setting Financial planning dates in Bucket?

We are using 'Quarterly' as a Financial period breakdown.

Hi Sandeep,

What sort of performance issue are you facing? I have not seen any performance issues with Buckets or related Items due to date ranges. The financial Planning View and the data your are entering can cause issues with performance not the dates itself.

The same performance I am referring as you mentioned.

When we use long duration in Financial planning e.g. 2021 to 2040, it may cause system performance issue.
