Hello Everyone,

How do we disable the standard out of box phase approval process which requires an Adobe document server ?.

In other words, I would like to allow phase approval to an Individual instead of sending out an approval document which requires an Adobe document server.

Hello Mohan,

Adobe Document Server is a definite prerequisite for carrying out phase approvals, as implemented in the PPM standard. If you cannot install and configure ADS, I think your best approach is to implement a custom process which does something similar to the approvals in the PPM standard.

I think this is what you could do (in broad terms):

  1. Customize your phase types so that they do not require approval (i.e. do not set flag "Approve Phase" in the Phase Type customizing)
  2. Define a status profile with user statuses for phases. You can ensure that certain activities are only allowed when a certain user status has been set (i.e. similar to approving a phase)
  3. Implement a workflow to notify the phase responsible person per mail, so that they are aware that they need to set the user status (i.e. "approve the phase").

Hello Francesco,

When I am not using ADS for the approval of a phase, how can I still release the subsequent phase only after setting the previous phase status to complete?.

Please see the attached screenshot, if I uncheck the 'Approve Phase', this action would also disable the functionality to release the subsequent phase sequentially.

Any input is appreciated.
