Dear all,
I already asked a question related to Resource Management and the possibility to create Resource Pools and Teams in the Portfolio and Project Administration.
In Project Management, I undesrtood that it's not possible to assign a pool or a team to a task and a rôle. The only way to work is to assign a Role to an Activity and a Business Partner to the Activity, even if we can assign more than one BP to a task.
My question is:
How can I use the defined Pools and/or Teams in the Ressources Search when I'm in Project Management or when I do a Resource Search or a Candidate search when I'm in the Staffing screen of a Rôle.
The idea would be to assign all members of a team to Role and Task.
Thanks for your help

I realize this is a year-old thread, Thierry. Let me try to explain the functions of RPs and Teams.
As Judith stated, it's not used for staffing functions, but it allows for grouping of Resources or groups of resources for analytical, management, and extended staffing purposes. For instance, Managers of Resource Pools have visibility to Resources who are part of that Pool - and if so configured, can have the ability to staff via the RM Fast Entry screens. Same thing for Leads of Teams - based on Config.
Generally speaking, you can use Teams or Resource Pools much like Organizations in HR. Though RPs or Teams in the standard (e.g., without Customizing) don't enforce a linkage with something else like a Work Center does in ECC/S4 Core (like Org, Plant, Func. Area, etc.), you can by defining a Team or RP with, say, a Role Function.
Remember that Role Function is a very important piece of Master Data, as it allows that "implied" linkage between Resource and Capacity. If you configure in such a way that RPs and/or Teams are linked to Org Unit and/or Role Function, you can also view capacity for an entire RP via the Fin/Cap roll-ups (as Cap roll-ups depend on Role Function). Likewise, remember that Resources in PPM can be assigned default Role Functions.
I hope this helps. I've had instances where your same questions were subject of WRICEFs, as one would think that RPs and Teams can be staffed as a whole. Unfortunately, this has always been an afterthought.

Hi Judith,
Thanks for your reply.
I still have additional questions behind:
- In that case, what is the Added value and the usage of ''Resource Pools'' and ''Teams'' ?
- Can we create or build a research on selected ''Resource Pools'' or ''Teams'' ?
- If Yes, can we do multiple selection in the Search tool ? (I tried but it seems not)
My issue is the Following:
My Customer do not want to staff factories activities on the resource level but on a team level within a team including all the team ressources. The detailed planification of tasks which will come from the ERP (PM or CS) would be distributed to single resources manually by their team leaders in the factories. The idea would be to do the detailed staffing manually on the PM orders or the CS orders.
What I need to check, this is the possibility to select multiple resources for a task through a research based on ''Resource Pools'' or ''Teams''
Is there any possibility to deploy this approach ?
BR
Thierry

Hi Thierry,
The "Resource Pools" and "Teams" are not relevant for the staffing process in Project Management.
Details concerning the staffing process are available in the online documentation under
Best regards,
Judith
