Dear All,

We are planning for upgrade from PPM5.0 to PPM6.01. As per the Upgrade master guide V11 SP05 it says we need to manually restore few customizations post upgrade, this is one of the topic mentioned in Upgrade master guide but it will be helpful to plan the upgrade activities in advance if we have complete list of things which needs to be taken before upgrade activities start.

So based on your experience please provide your thoughts for PPM5.0 to PPM6.01 upgrade.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Kumar

Hi,

After upgrade from PPM 5.0 to PPM 6.01 you will counter several issues. A few of them you have to address manually and others you have to go by raising ticket to SAP.

I could provide a few issue which I can recall now:

1. User defined field will become min-aligned ( PPM item and cProject) --> You have to adjust WD service  WD_GLOBAL_SETTING for re-alignment (left/right/center)

2. Some custom enhancement may get overwritten -->You have to do the UR (Unified rendering) properly for that.

3. If you are using Enterprise Portal to access PPM then you may find PPM tab disappeared there.-->Portal federation issue

4.Z-Hierarchy reports may not perform properly-->Uou have to run program RGRJBG00 to regenerate the report group/s

5. 500 SAP Internal Server Error while opening PPM item--> SAP Note 1738672.

6.Cfolder giving dump - Internal server error. -->Manual activation of archive info structure SAP_RPM_BUC_01 was done (using t-code SARJ)

7.PPM item custom number range may get affected-->Earlier method used was GENERATE_EXTERNAL_ID ( Generate external ID for xRPM 4.0: its no more supported in current version of PPM). We have modified it and now the new method being used in its place is : GET_NEXT_NUMBER_FOR_EXTID.

8. A few Z batch jobs may stop working in xRPM--> Check such jobs and verify.

9.RABAX_STATE error--> Restore customizing tables using t-code: /n/RPM/CUST_COPY:

/RPM/DASH_PERS: Dashboard Customization

/RPM/DASH_ROLE: Dashboard Attributes Override Table

INM_NAV_CTX: INM Navigation Context

INM_NAV_CTX_W: INM Navigation Context Work center

INM_NAV_INF_W: INM Navigation Information

10. . In cProject navigation/Menu options close button is not appearing. It was visible in PPM 5.0

11. SAP GUI for HTML showing new theme (Corbu) --> Use SICF for service WEBGUI and parameters

~THEME           SAP_TRADESHOW

~WEBGUI_ICON_TOOLBAR

12. Business Server Page (BSP) error in PPM 6.1. When we click on any link under Collaboration tab under cProject an error pop-up comes saying BSP error--> Security consultant has to resync user profile.

These are the major issue that we faced when we moved to PPM 6.01 from 5.0.

Hi Kumar,

From functional side:

1. Make sure you have collected all delta transports ( Customizing and Workbench Transport requests) before upgrade, involve your ABAPers for this.

2. If you are using PPM on EP then keep a copy of PPM dashboard dimensional settiongs (especially width parameters) as you may counter dashboard truncation issue after upgrade.

3. Your Kernel patch status will be required to upgrade, Keep a note of that because during post testing you may counter a few weird dumps ("failed to fire action") that would require Kernel patch upgrade to 748/749 and latest patch.

4. RFC connections, Logical system, Destination settings on PPM configuration side may change so Keep a note of that too.

5. Needless to say, Upgrade Development system first-->perform end to end module, cross module testing--> Remove bugs/errors if found any--> Upgrade test System.

Good Luck.

Best Regards

Saurabh
