Hi All,

We have an requirement that all the systems communicating to DCS and QCS should be through the firewall.

where to install UDS( which commnicates to DCS and QCS)so that firewall should not affect the communication between xMII server and UDS?

few things that in place are

1. xMII server

2. OPC server( on this i belive that UDS and firewall layer will be there)

3. Various DCS systems which communicates to OPC server?

Kindly Suggest

Regards

For performance and technical issue avoidance the UDS should be installed as close to the datasource as possible and therefore behind the firewall.

Communication between the UDS instance(s) and the xMII server are simply on a TCP/IP port of your choice, so configuring the firewall to allow this port level communication should be easy to do. With the undlying data source particular API's, potential for DCOM issues, etc., having this behind the firewall will be to your advantage.
